Wanda Marie Bristol, age 84, of Elizabethton, TN started her heavenly family reunion on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Knoxville, TN and was the daughter of the late Frank Maples Sr. and Gracie Mayes Maples. Wanda was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Wanda selflessly spent her life caring for her family and others. She was always stylish and well put-together and was a voracious reader.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Bristol Sr.; an infant daughter, Debbie Bristol; brothers, Frank Maples Jr., Ted Maples, Cecil Maples, Paul Maples and an infant brother, George Maples and a sister, Jenny Wiberg. Those left to cherish her memory include a son, William E. Bristol Jr. and wife Mary, TN; two grandchildren, Audra Huffmaster and husband Denzil, GA and Aaron Bristol and wife Brittany, TN; five great-grandchildren, Leigh Marie Huffmaster, GA, Spane Bristol, Ainsley Bristol, Arlo Bristol and Lennon Bristol, all of TN; special nieces, Rena Kirkman, UT and Sherry Maples, NY and a special nephew, Richard Maples, TN. Several special friends also survive.A service to honor the life of Wanda Marie Bristol will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 13, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Gale Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service.Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 14, 2018 in the Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville, TN. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 P.M. on Friday.The family would like to express a special thank you to Wanda’s loving friends and the third floor nursing staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital for their care. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to East Side Baptist Church, 1509 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
