Mr. William “Peanut” Roger Chandler, age 76, of Elizabethton, TN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Peanut was born in Erwin, TN on June 29, 1936 to the late Guy Earl and Billie Euphma (Everett) Chandler. Peanut retired from Mor-Flo in the late 1990’s after thirty-two years of service. He was a resident of Carter County and was of the Free Will Baptist faith. Peanut married the love of his life, Mary Jo Barker on April 10, 1976 in Dillon, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin Gale, Dudley C., Buddy “Possum”, and Jimmie Chandler and one sister, Sara Lucille Chandler Arwood. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo; a son, Scotty Shane Burgess; daughters, Rosa Marie (Larry) Marshall and Billie Eugina (Dick) Green; an aunt, Kate Edwards; brother-in-law, Al Sturgeon; sisters-in-law, Judy (Douglas) Thomas, Charlotte (Leon) Mann and Barbara Chandler; several nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Sally Chandler; special friends, Millie and John Pierce; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mr. William “Peanut” Roger Chandler will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Judy Thomas, soloist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Leon Mann, Doug Thomas, Al Sturgeon, John Pierce, Dick Green and Larry Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Jaynes and Bill Harrell. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.Read Obituary
