Vera Giles Collins

Vera Street Giles Collins, 89 years old passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Dont and Blanche Hyder Street and was born in the Browns Branch Community of Hampton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Collins and Paul Giles, sisters, Zella Simerly Bailey, Arrie Roark and Leora Church and a brother, Eckert Street, and her dogs, Logan and Woody.Vera was a homemaker, owned and operated a trucking business and worked in the service industry in her later years. She loved gardening, baking and spending time with her family and her dogs.Vera is survived by her sons, Paul Giles and wife Angie, Jeff Giles and his wife Janet and her precious granddaughter, Emily Akers and husband Brandon, a brother, Paris Street and wife Rebecca and a special niece, Sharon Roark. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Darryl Bailey officiating. Family and Friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 to the service.
