View This Video TributeTulsa Street, Johnson City, TN, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 8, 2011.  He was born in Bakersville, NC on May 7, 1921, but had resided in the Pinecrest community of Johnson City for the past 84 years.  He was a son of the late G.W. and Maggie Hughes Street.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Street, Robert Street and Richard Street; and a sister, Gladys Street Renfro.Mr. Street is survived by his wife of 63 years, Madge Marie Cox Street, of the home; one son, Randy Street and his wife Diane, LaFayette, GA; one daughter, Debbie Street Pugh and her husband Joe, Johnson City; four grandsons, Capt. Michael K. Street and his wife, Mandy, Spokane, WA; Dr. Brian J. Pugh, Toledo, OH; Phillip A. Street, Fort Collins, CO; and J. Eric Pugh, Johnson City.  Four great-grandchildren, Joel Street, Daniel Street and Anna Elizabeth Street and a baby boy due in April; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Cox Ledbetter and her husband, Harold, Waynesville, NC; and Mary Cox Huskins, Atlanta, GA.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. Street was a longtime member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.  He was a 1939 graduate of Happy Valley High School and also a graduate of Steed Business College.  He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.  He was co-owner and operator of South Roan Shell Service Station for 31 years.  He was an avid gardener and fisherman for many years.The funeral service for Mr. Street will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11th at Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Active pallbearers will be Joe Pugh, Capt. Michael Street, Dr. Brian Pugh, Phillip Street, Eric Pugh, Dickie Renfro and Marty Street.  Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Gouge, T.J. Sparks, Howell Glover, Jack Street, Paul Renfro, Bob Grant, Jerome Christian and Steve Waycaster.  Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 1:15 PM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN, 37601.
