Thomas M. Tyree

Mr. Thomas M. Tyree, age 70, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Fred Crumley and Virginia June Davis. He was a 1964 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Mr. Tyree was a retired cross country truck driver. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and he was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the N.R.A.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Frankie Crumley Congram. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Jeanette Sorrell Tyree, of the home; a son, James A. Tyree and wife Christy, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Remington, Bailey and Madison and one sister, Ruby Crumley Dillon, Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.A graveside service to honor the life of Mr. Thomas M. Tyree will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Biggs officiating. Active pallbearers will be the Carter County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Vaughn, Robert Holdren, Nick Holtsclaw, Steve Sorrell, Dale Norris and Richard Ensor. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the graveside service or at his residence at any time. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. to go in procession to the cemetery.The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. David Wiles and staff, Dr. Devapiran Jashanker and staff, Dr. John Dengler and staff, Vanessa Coughman, Johnson City Internal Medicine, Anna Ruth Pierce and John Whitson.
