Thelma Bess Lewis Holt

Thelma Bess Lewis Holt, age 94, of Johnson City, TN passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Carlton Lewis and Frances Mae Sparks Lewis Jarrett. She was a member of Central Community Christian Church. Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and quilting, cooking, puzzles and spending time with her family.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Brooks Holt, a brother, William “Dusty” Lewis and a half-brother, Garnett “Bud” John Jarrett. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jim Holt and wife Barbara, Lewis Holt, Michelle Gourley, Don Holt and Mark Holt and wife Anita; grandchildren, Seth Holt and wife Sonya, Steve Gourley and wife Kimberly, Carrie Holt, Captain Alayna Holt USAF and Second Lt. Robert Holt USAF and wife Kelsey; a great-grandchild, Madison Gourley; siblings, Carl Lewis and wife Martha Lou, Edna Crumley and husband Tom and Sarah Edwards and husband Garry. Beloved step-brothers, sisters and in-laws and many nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Dr. David Franzus, Dr. Dianne Draper and Kathryn Smith also survive.A service to honor the life of Thelma Bess Lewis Holt will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the funeral service. Private graveside service will be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
