Texie Johnson

Mrs. Texie Johnson, age 94, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Waters of Roan Highlands. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Mary Pippins Winters. Texie was the owner of Johnson Antiques in Roan Mountain, TN where she had worked for many years. She enjoyed talking to people and loved her pets, going to auctions and gardening.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer “Wilt” Johnson; a daughter, Frankie Woodby; two grandsons, Timmy Woodby and Paul Hathaway; a special granddaughter, Sherry Hathaway Babb and three brothers, Dave Winters, Munrow Winters and Earnest Winters. Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Robin McKinney and Margaret Whitehead and husband Arnold, both of Roan Mountain and Grace Wagner, Hampton; two sons, Jerry Johnson, Elizabethton and Wilson Junior Johnson, Hampton; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Doyle, Teresa Simerly, Michael Woodby, Dusty Woodby, Wesley Woodby, Randy Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Christy Johnson, Tammie Chrisawn and Travis McKinney. Fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Texie Johnson will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2019 in the Johnson Roanview Cemetery with Pastor Jeff McKinney officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Monday prior to the graveside service.Read Obituary
