"View This Video Tribute"Stephen G. Sargent, 84, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, peacefully, on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at his residence. He was the son of the late John E. and Eva Grindstaff Sargent and was born in Beulah, Kentucky.      Mr. Sargent was a retired truck driver and was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II.       In addition to his parents, Mr. Sargent is preceded in death by two brothers: Eulas Sargent and Richard Lee Sargent; three sisters: Essie McGovern, Gladys Woods and Mary Louise Payne.  Survivors include: his wife, Ione L. Sargent, of the home; two sons: Stephen G. Sargent II, Elizabethton and James E. Sargent, Medina, OH; one daughter: Karen Borror, Grafton, OH; two step-sons: Ray McHenry and Michael McHenry, both of Medina, OH; one step-daughter: Terri Lynn Rithie, Lincolnton, N.C.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister: Gertrude Vaughn, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.The funeral service for Stephen G. Sargent will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Wesley Simons and Mr. Eddy Craft, ministers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM prior to the service in the chapel and at the residence at anytime.     The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors to be accorded by the American Legion Post #49. Active pallbearers will be selected from the members of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Dean, Harold Range, Ray Whitehead, Roy Whitehead, Johnny Chambers, Bill Lambert. and John Presnell.  Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 1:15 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
