DEATH AND FUNERAL NOTICE FOR ROY E. PERRY Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation ServicesMr. Roy E. Perry, age 74, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hobert McKinley Perry and Helen Irene Andes Perry and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Simpson Perry in August 2015; a brother, Terry E. Perry; two sons-in-law, Michael Fisher Jr. and Dana K. Bowman; a nephew, Terry Perry Jr. and a sister-in-law, Rita Perry.Roy was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. After serving twenty years in the military, he worked with the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2003.Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Melissa K. Bowman of Elizabethton and Angela M. Fisher of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Leah Deloach of Johnson City, Macey Fisher of Banner Elk, NC and Emily Fisher of Johnson City; two great-grandchildren, Payton Norris of Johnson City and Hannah Norris of Elizabethton; two brothers, Clarence Perry and wife Debbie of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jerry Perry and wife Dale of Elizabethton; two sisters, Elizabeth Eastes and Sonja Bowling both of Elizabethton; a special friend, Mike Grindstaff of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A service to honor Roy’s life will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 13, 2015 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mrs. Rhonda (Dale) Perry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the funeral service or at the residence of a daughter, Angela Fisher, 203 Hidden Oaks Drive, Johnson City, TN at other times.The graveside service and entombment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 14, 2015 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Brent Shelton, Donnie Nance, David Nance, Jeremiah Guinn, Shane Stout, Mike Grindstaff and Nate Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Wilson, Brian Foster, Shane Hardy, Ricky Simpson, Michael Perry, Scott Perry and Logan Bowling. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 P.M. on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Wounded Warrior’s Project, P.
