Mr. Richard Lin (Rick) Christiansen, 62, Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center.  Rick was raised in Bountiful, Utah and has resided in Johnson City for the past twenty-seven years. He served a two year church mission to Brazil at the age of nineteen.  He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and served for seven years.  He was a graduate of the University of Utah with a BA in Mathematics and a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Masters Degree in Computer Science. He worked as a software engineer for Texas Instruments and Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc. He enjoyed woodworking and loved hiking, kayaking and being in the great outdoors. Rick was a true craftsman in every facet of his life. He loved his family, and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by all who were honored to know him. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. Christiansen and Dorothy Esplin and a sister, Ruth Ann Green. Survivors include his wife, Linda K. Christiansen; a son, Alan Todd Christiansen and his wife Lydia, Whidbey Island, Washington; a son, Ryan Mark Christiansen and his wife Kristine, Jonesborough; a son, Randy Scott Christiansen and his wife Stephanie, Gray; a brother, Mark Christiansen, Battleground, Washington; a sister, Allayne Orr, Elk River, Minnesota and five grandchildren, Lucas, Larsen, Natalie, Jonah and Leif Christiansen.  Funeral service for Mr. Richard Lin (Rick) Christiansen will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Services will be conducted by Terry Henderson and presiding will be Bishop Z. Thomas Cannon. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 14, 2009 in Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. on Friday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence at other times.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity (http://www.habitat.org/gift), Attention: Gifts From the Heart, 121Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498.
