Proverbs 31: 10 ~ “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Rhonda ~ “A Rose ~ A Fragrant Life.” Rhonda Gail Winters, age 65, of Elizabethton, lost her battle with cancer on Monday, April 21, 2014, at her residence, but was so ready to meet her Savior. Rhonda was born in Carter County to the late Theodore and Frances O’Quinn Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law and friend, Jeanette Allen; her dear friend and uncle, Wayne Kiser; and a brother-in-law, Richard Winters. Rhonda loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior, her church and her church family. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and retired from Snap-On-Tools and the Carter County School System as a special education bus driver. Rhonda loved her special education children. She would always buy candy and shoes for those in need. She was a devoted wife of 50 years and a beloved, cherished mother, who loved her family dearly. She also loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play high school ball. The new light of her life was her new great grandchild, Brody James McInturff. She was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and very active in her church. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Grayson Winters, of the home; two daughters, Deanna McInturff and husband Tim, and Pam Ward, all of Elizabethton; a son, Greg Winters and wife Nikki, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Daniel McInturff and wife Lauren, Katharyne McInturff, Blake Ward, Drew Ward, Kayla Winters, Kassie Winters, and Cloe Winters; a great grandson, Brody James McInturff; two sisters, Judy Lipford and husband Jack, and Sue Carroll and husband Robert; two brothers, Darrell Garland and wife Lee, and Jerry Rumley and wife Barbara; brothers-in-law, Charles Winters and wife Linda, and Marvin Allen; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Taylor and husband Gene and Gloria Winters; special friends, Members of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, Dianna McInturff, Thelma Rouse, Anna “Ruth” Pierce, sister-in-law, Brenda Taylor, Violet Trivette, and Missy Ward. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janice and Earl Stout for their kindness, and also her beloved son-in-law, Tim McInturff for his care and kindness during her illness. A service to celebrate the life of Rhonda Winters will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services, with Dr. Bill Duncan and Rev. Gary Roe, officiating. Special music will be under the direction of Vivian and Howard Hammonds, Gail McClure and Tabitha Campbell. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday; or at the residence at anytime. The committal and entombment service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Daniel McInturff, Mike Winters, Don Hicks, Gary Wallace, Frank Peters, Donnie Taylor, Michael Lipford and Marty Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Ward, Josh Hicks, Drew Ward and her church family. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 10:15 AM on Friday, to go in procession.
