"View This Video Tribute"Rev. O. B. Peterson, 78, of Elizabethton left his earthly body and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven shouting, rejoicing and praising God, Tuesday, June 28, 2011. He joined his beloved wife of forty-six years, Effie Edwards Peterson and family members that left this earth before him. He was a native of Washington County, TN, but lived most of his life in Carter County. He was the son of the late Dove and Retta Murphy Peterson. Rev. Peterson was a retired employee of the JARL Corporation and was a retired minister. He enjoyed evangelistic ministry. Rev. Peterson was a member of Lighthouse for Jesus.In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clark Peterson and three sisters, Lois Fight, June Miller and Madge Lewandouski. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Benny Ray Peterson and wife, Desiree, Johnson City; daughter, Debbie McKinney, Elk Park, NC; grandson, Eric Presnell, South Minneapolis, MN; three sisters, Charlotte Burton, Madlyn Smith and Jacqueline Hill, all of Elizabethton and special friends, Jewel Fox, Toby Taylor and family. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service for Rev. O. B. Peterson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Brother Bill Younce and Brother Phil Reed officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Lighthouse for Jesus Christ Church. Interment will follow the funeral service in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Eric Presnell, Jerry Edwards, Danny Tester, Johnny Presnell, Roy Reed and Toby Taylor II.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the funeral service or at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Benny Ray and Desiree Peterson of Johnson City at other times.The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Pam and the Staff of Hillview Health Center along with the Johnson City Medical Center ICU Staff for all their excellent care and concern for our loved one. Also, the family would like to express appreciation to our family and friends, Pastor Bill Younce, the Church family for their prayers and support.
