Parker G. Main, Jr., age 79, of 5037 Hwy. 321, Butler, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Pine Ridge Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Parker G. Main, Sr. and Nettie Cable Main. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Main and two brothers, Edgar Main and W.K. Main. Mr. Main was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Mountain City. Mr. Main was retired from Blue Ridge Shoe Factory in Mountain City, and attended Elk River Baptist Church. Mr. Main is survived by three sisters, Edith Finney, Elizabethton, Stella Tester and husband, Harvey, Elizabethton, and Mary Jo Laws and husband, H.D. “Sonny”, Butler; a sister-in-law, Louise Main, Butler; brothers-in-law, Bill Walsh and wife, Doris, Butler, Joe Walsh and wife, Joyce, Butler, Raymond Campbell and wife, Anna Ruth, Butler, James Walsh, NC, and Sherman Walsh, California; and special friends, Bobby Finney and Steve Payne. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Parker G. Main, Jr. will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 18, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Ray Green and Rev. Charles Cable officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Elk Mills Baptist Church Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 P.M. Military honors will accorded by the American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
