Mrs. Ola Mae Taylor, 85, of Elizabethton died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Katie Watson Jackson. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Brown’s Chapel AME Zion Church and the Young Missionaries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Taylor, Jr. in 1991 and by several siblings. Survivors include three daughters, Gretchen Taylor, Elizabethton, Cheryl Taylor, Johnson City and Sherry Brown, New York; three sons, George Benny Taylor, Elizabethton, Robert Jeffery Taylor, Portsmouth, VA and Tim Taylor, North Carolina; a brother, Gordon M. Jackson, Biloxi, Mississippi and a brother-in-law, Charles Taylor, Elizabethton. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mrs. Ola Mae Taylor will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 31, 2011 in the Brown’s Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Jeannette Clark officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Church. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the service or at 733 South Lynn Avenue, Elizabethton at other times. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
