“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7 Mrs. Nina Ruth Edwards, 77, of Johnson City went home to be with her Lord following an extended and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 11, 2011at her residence. A native of Johnson County, TN she was the daughter of the late James Stout Jr. and Viola Myra Greene Stout. Mrs. Edwards had worked at Empire Furniture, Artcraft Glove Company, Harris Flooring, as a caregiver at Appalachian Christian Village and at the U.S. Forestry Service. She had attended Higgins Chapel Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at Green Pine Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards loved flowers and to garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Stout as well as two infant brothers and a sister, Rosa. Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Cecil B. Edwards, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Renfro and husband Steve and Donna Campbell and husband Mitch; five granddaughters and their husbands, Amy and Mike, Rebecca and Tim, Katherine and Jason, Stephanie and Mark and Tracey and Daniel; great-granddaughters, Hope, Brittany, Michelle and Harmony; great-grandsons, Steven, Joshua, Coty, Brandon, Caleb, Michael and Hunter; a great-great-granddaughter, Allison; two sisters, Evelyn Scott and husband Scottie and Geneva Osborne and husband Gene; three brothers, David Stout and wife Jeannie, Paul Stout and wife Joyce and Darrell Stout; special cousin, Hazel Chambers and special caregiver, Judy Vines. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral service for Mrs. Nina Ruth Edwards will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Carl Bowman officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Joel Crisp and Mrs. Jackie Wiseman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Unicoi. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the U.S. Forestry Service. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. on Wednesday for the graveside service. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Caris Hospice, especially her nurse, Dawn Trivette for their loving and devoted care to Mrs. Edwards during her illness.
