Nancy Pauline Lyons

Nancy Pauline Lyons, age 91, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Lyons was a very devout Christian her entire life. She was the daughter of the late John and Stella Simerly Arrowood of Valley Forge, TN. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin W. Lyons, who died August 4, 1997. She retired from Milligan College where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Lyons was a loving mother of six children; Shelby Lyons and wife, Linda, of Johnson City, and Charlotte Byers and husband, Ray, Frankie Lovette and husband, Bob, Ray Lyons and wife, Janice, Sam Lyons and wife, Sharon Dennison, and Jerry Lyons and wife, Barbara, all of Elizabethton. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Nancy Pauline Lyons will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Alan King, pastor of Zion Baptist Church, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rebecca Osborne. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in the Lyons Cemetery located on Cash Hollow Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM on Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be Michael Lyons, Josh Lyons, Danny Ward, Nathan Ward, Sam Lyons, and Scotty Lovette. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Lyons, Jr., Galen White, Sam Lyons, Jr., Jay Waters, Robert Lovette, and John Carter. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in Pauline’s memory to the National Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.Read Obituary
