Mary L. Shook, age 78, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. She is the daughter of the late Andrew Smith and Ruby Hutto Smith. Mary was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, and of the Hampton Eastern Star.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winford W. Shook and sister, Betty Clayton. Those left to cherish her memories include; her brother, Andrew Johnson Smith; step-son’s, Alvin Shook of Hampton, TN, Kenny Shook of Kingsport, TN; step-daughters, Janet Shook of Elizabethton, TN, Bonnie Tunnell of Johnson City, TN; step-grandchildren, Miranda Anderson, Jesse Deloach, Kara Short, Austin Hyder, Evan Tunnell; two step great-grandson’s, and great-granddaughter’s; special friends, Charles Scalf, Joshua Feathers, Skyler Deloach, Savannah Reece, Kristal Anderson, Jamie Anderson; several nieces and nephews also survive.A service to honor the life of Mary will be held at 12:30 P.M, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. Friends and Family may come by Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday between the hours of 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.The graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. following the service at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Tuesday.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County is mandating that all citizens who live in or visit wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the funeral home and graveside service are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also, social distancing recommendations must be observed.
