Mary Ada Simerly McKinney, age 89, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earnest and Dolly Casey Simerly and was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She was a former Senior Vice-President of Carter County Bank where she also served as secretary to the board for thirty-three years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Earl McKinney; one grandson, Mike McKinney; one sister, Edith Peters, one brother, Louis Jack Simerly; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Simerly. She is survived by one son, Earl McKinney and wife, Mary Jane, Elizabethton; one granddaughter, Natalie Tate and husband, Wes, Elizabethton; one brother, Fletcher Gene Simerly and wife, Nancy, Greenville; one brother-in-law, L. Wayne Peters, Venice, FL; a step-grandson, J.P. Mathes and wife, Leona, Elizabethton. The graveside service for Mary Ada Simerly McKinney will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Richard Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of J.P. and Leona Mathes. Everyone will meet at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 9:50 AM on Tuesday. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Helen Huffman, Sue Hardin, Dr. James Shipley and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Mrs. McKinney during her illness.
