"View This Video Tribute" Mr. Marshall Bailey Vines, 81, of Johnson City died Monday, April 18, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital after a battle with cancer. A native of Asheville, NC he was the son of the late Carl Allen Vines, Sr. and Minnie Mae Bailey Vines. Mr. Vines was a master electrician. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethton and he was a Corporal in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Vines loved bluegrass music and played the dobro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Irene Vines and two brothers, Carl A. Vines, Jr. and James L. Vines. Survivors include his wife, Willa Feathers Vines, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Robert Amick, Lexington, SC; Julie and Allen Jones, Chapin, SC and Donna and Terry Wolfe, Irmo, SC; a son, Michael Vines, West Columbia, SC; five granddaughters, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. William J. Vines, Laurens, SC and Lawrence E. Vines, North Augusta, SC; two step-sons, David Feathers and wife Sandy, Bluff City and Roger Feathers, Piney Flats; two step-daughters, Teresa Feathers Cook and husband Michael, Piney Flats and Carolyn Feathers, Bristol, TN; one step-granddaughter, four step-grandsons and six step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mr. Marshall Bailey Vines will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 21, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Tapp, Minister Jonathan Feathers and Mr. Robert Amick, eulogist officiating. Music will be under the direction of The Red Barn Musicians and Music Friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service or at the residence, 2518 Plymouth Road, Clarion Court, Unit #1, Johnson City at other times. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 22, 2011 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be David Feathers, Keith Bennett, Michael Cook and Robert Amick. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the 7th floor of the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, Dr. Dimka Tountcheva and Dr. William Kincaid for their loving care to Mr. Vines. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Immanuel Baptist Church, 205 Hunter Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
