The best mother God ever created was Margie A. Whisner Cover. She was a joy to all who were privileged to know her. She was cheerful, friendly and hospitable, always putting others first. She had a love for helping others and trying to make the lives of each one she met a little easier. She never complained and was optimistic in every situation. She had great knowledge and wisdom. Friends and relatives valued her encouragement and advice. She had a great love for God and His word, and she sought to serve the Lord with her whole heart. She had a very special and loving relationship with her husband Paul for 56 years. During Paul’s 30 years of military service in the U.S. Navy, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling and touring in the United States, Western Europe, The British Isles, Turkey, the Holy Land and Russia. Her special joy while living in London was being a member of Westminster Chapel under the ministry of Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.  Mrs. Cover was a graduate from Milligan College with a double major in Chemistry and Biology. After graduation Mrs. Cover was employed as a chemist for Bemberg. Her love for the Lord led her to Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY where she earned a master in Religious Education. Upon receiving her degree, she took a position with Oceanview Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA as the Religious Educational Director.  She was a loving mother, a talented seamstress and an amazing cook, preparing recipes varying from different cultures. She helped to make her families’ life peaceful and wonderful. I know this for a fact, because she was my mother. Margie Ada Whisner Cover, 88, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2009, after an extended illness. A native of Carter County she was the daughter of the late Oliver Ransford and Edith Mabel Carriger Whisner. In addition to her parents Mrs. Cover is preceded in death by her loving husband H. Paul Cover; brother, Hubert Whisner; sister, Jimmie Whisner Middleton; and infant sons, Harry Paul Cover and Baby Boy Cover.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marcey Cover and Richard Winston Reed; two granddaughters, Julie Ann Andrews and husband Mark Kevin Andrews and Rachel Reed Turner and husband Stephen Kyle Turner; five great-grandchildren, Madelyn Faith Andrews, Paul Mark Andrews, Lauren Grace Andrews, Shawn Kevin Andrews and Tristan Crawford Turner, all of Simpsonville, SC; one step-sister and brother-in-law, Norma and George Middleton, Benton, KY; one sister-in-law, Helen Whisner, Elizabethton; one special niece Ann Peters, Apopka, FL and one special nephew, John Middleton, Lithonia, Ga. I knew Margie many years ago at First Baptist Church in Elizabethton and have very fond memories of that time.  She was a sweet, loving, Christian woman who tried to teach us younger ones the love of God and how to grow and be good people by serving him.  She was an example to me and I will always remember her with much kindness.  God Bless all of your family in your loss.Lovingly, Ruth##imported-begin##Ruth Jordan Hathaway##imported-end##
