Mable Virginia Steffey Crowe

Mable Virginia Steffey Crowe, age 87, of Elizabethton, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Groseclose, VA, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Harvey and Minnie Myrtle Horne Steffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gibson Crowe; three brothers, Ivan Dean Steffey, Ralph Steffey and William G. Steffey; and two sisters, Gladys Colbaugh and Ruby Steffey. Mrs. Crowe retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, Joseph Harvey Crowe, Holland, OH; one grandson, Tristan Leigh Crowe, Holland, OH; two sisters, Inez Fortunato, South Line, MI and Frances S. Taylor, Elizabethton; a special niece, Pat Woods and her husband, Gary, Elizabethton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mable Virginia Steffey Crowe will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. John Smith, Minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the funeral service and at the residence of a sister, Frances S. Taylor, 501A West G Street, Elizabethton at other times. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral on Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tristan Crowe, Gary Woods, Nathan Woods, Eric Stout, Lucas Mink, Jonathan Bowling, Nathaniel Bowling, Roy Colbaugh, Tom Colbaugh, Ted Colbaugh and Junior Campbell. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Mountain States Hospice and the staff of Hillview Health Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Crowe.
