Mr. Luther Ray Gentry, age 83, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Emerson and Minnie Collins Gentry. Mr. Gentry was a farmer and he was a member of Siam Baptist Church. Survivors include three brothers, A. E. “Kayo” Gentry and wife Betty, Bobby Gentry and wife Leona and Cameron “Buck” Gentry and wife Janice, all of Elizabethton and two sisters, Nellene Crowe, Johnson City and Chestine Larimer, Erwin. Eight nephews and four nieces also survive. Graveside service for Mr. Luther Ray Gentry will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the Nave Cemetery with Mr. David Irick, minister officiating. Active pallbearers will be nephews; Michael Gentry, Earl Gentry, Royce Gentry, Noel Gentry, David Gentry, Curtis Gentry, Craig Larimer and Randall Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be John Jones, Scott Glover and Larry Coldwell. The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from Noon until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the graveside service. The family would like to express a special thanks to all the workers at Ivy Hall Nursing Home and to Caris Hospice for their loving care to Mr. Gentry.
