Linda Ruth Ritchie White, age 72, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Linda was born on September 21, 1948 in Elizabethton to the late Teddy G. Ritchie and Selma Bellamy. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Rhea White; four brothers, David E. Ritchie, William “Bill” Ritchie, Teddy J. Ritchie and James Wayne Ritchie; two sisters, Hilda Glenita Ritchie and Wilma Jean Bennett. Linda was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabethton and loved her church family. She worked many years for the Elizabethton City School System doing Housekeeping and Johnson City Medical Center where she later retired. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robert Stanley White and wife Angel of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Logan White and Lucas, Lacy Sparks and Phil, and Levi White; great grandchildren, Brody Thomas, Saylor Thomas, and Aria Sparks; sisters, Barbara Carlock or Chattanooga, TN, Patsy Depp of Crestwood, KY; brother, Randy E. Ritchie of Austin, TN; special friend, Lelia and Dan Perry; special adopted sister, Marcella Shoun; several nieces and nephews also survive..The family will hold a memorial service to honor the life of Linda Ruth Ritchie White at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabethton with Reverend Kinley Knight officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The First Church of the Nazarene at 200 West I Street Elizabethton, TN 37643.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County and Washington County are mandating that all citizens who live in or visit the counties wear masks in public. I have known Ruthie since we were children. She had the kindest heart and loved to do anything she could for others. She was so good to visit Ivy Hall even though she had some sad memories there. She loved her church and was very faithful. I loved her and enjoyed talking with her any time I had the opportunity. She will be missed by so many but I know she is rejoicing with loved ones.
As long as I've known her (and that's been about 65 years), Ruthie always seemed to be smiling. So kind and thoughtful. We will miss seeing her at the next 1968 EHS class reunion.

I was blessed to know Ruth and the whole family. She always had a kind heart and easy- going spirit. I was always treated like part of the family when I was at hers or her Mother's home. My condolences to the Ritchie and White familys. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I was a teacher at EHS when Linda worked there. We had many long conversations after school. She was especially good to my 5 year old son Geoffrey who was in Miss Pam’s kindergarten class at Westside with her niece Penny Ritchie’s son Caleb. My shy little boy would feel on top of the world when she would take him to the vending machine for a honey bun. This remains a very sweet memory for me and for Geoff.

Ruthie and I have been friends since I was seven and she was nine. Over the years we have lost track but always reconnected like no time has passed. She has Ben a true friend and I will miss her dearly. Rest in peace my friend.
Ruth was one of my high school Best friends.Also saw her at all of the high school reunions.She was one of the greatestpeople I've Known. She came to allmost all of my family funerals just because my sister went to the same church. although I've been away from Elizabethton 50 years we always saw each other when /I cameto Elizabethton. I will miss her.
Ruth and I were childhood friends. We spent a lot of time together growing up. If I needed to talk she was always there. My nine yr. old daughter loved her so much. My heart hurts now that she is gone, but I know she is rejoicing in heaven. I'll see you soon my dear friend
