Lawrence H. Walker, age 67, of 1399 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 19, 2013 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Chester and Bessie Nidiffer Walker. Lawrence enjoyed fishing and helping out with farm work. He found great enjoyment spending time with people and loved children. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence William “Bill” Walker, Roy L. Walker, Floyd Walker and Carlos Walker; a sister, Lola Walker; a brother-in-law, Alfred Lyons; and a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Walker. He is survived by two brothers, Johnny Walker and wife, Trula, Elizabethton, and Charles “Jack” Walker and wife, Charlotte, of Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Wright and husband, Lawrence, Johnson City, and Zelma Lyons, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Johnny Lynn Walker, that lived with Lawrence. Special friends, J.V. Wilson and Eddie and Shavonne Roberts, all of Elizabethton, also survive. The funeral service for Lawrence H. Walker will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Dale Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Shon Blevins, soloist. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. prior to the service in the funeral home chapel or at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Trula Walker, 1310 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. on Monday. Active pallbearers will be Bill Lyons, Brian Andes, Richard Miller, Paul Birchfield, Eddie Roberts, Bobby Roberts, and Billy Garrett.
