June Dugger Owens

Mrs. June Dugger Owens, 1633 Hillview Drive, Elizabethton died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Elizabethton, she was the daughter of the late Elijah F. (E. F.) and Maude K. Murray Dugger. She lived for seven years in St. Augustine and Daytona, FL and returned to Elizabethton in 1969. Mrs. Owens was an LPN having worked in the ICU at the Johnson City Medical Center for fourteen years. She was a very active member of East Side Christian Church.          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Owens, a daughter, Patsy Dykes Meredith; a brother, John Dugger and two sisters, Viola Phillips and Mamie Seaton. Survivors include three grandsons, Terry Meredith and his wife Valerie, Elizabethton, John Meredith, U.S. Army, Kansas and David Meredith, Johnson City; great-grandchildren, Jordan Meredith, Elizabethton, Jamie Salley and Nathan Salley, both of Kentucky and Jason Salley, Elizabethton; two brothers, Carmon Dugger, Elizabethton and Ray Dugger, Bluff City and two sisters, Nelle Thomason and Erma Dykes, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.          Graveside service for Mrs. June Dugger Owens will be conducted at 1:30 PM Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. John Smith, minister officiating. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Family and friends will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends may call at the residence of her brother, Carmon Dugger, 1709 Southside Road, Elizabethton at any time.          In lieu of flowers to those who desire, memorials may be made to East Side Christian Church, Building Fund, 1400 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.Read Obituary
