Mr. Joseph Brown, age 84, a loving father and grandfather of Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Mountain Home V.A. Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Joseph Osborne Brown and Deelee Lunceford Brown. He retired from North American Rayon Corporation and he was a member of First Christian Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Brown was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Buck Brown in 2012; a brother, Robert Brown; a grandson, Robert Brown and a great-grandson, Landon Joseph Brown. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Joanna Smith and Debbie Young and husband Robert, all of Johnson City; four sons, David Brown, Roger Brown and wife Paulette, Billy Joe Brown and wife Crystal, all of Elizabethton and Joseph Brown and wife Lavanda, Fredericksburg, VA.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Payton Collins and husband Cody, Ashley Ray, Haley Brown, Lexie Brown, Robert Eli Brown, Landon Brown, Natalie Brown, Makenzie Collins, Adria Hill, Travis Brown, Betty Jo Street, Samuel Smith, Melinda Brown, Danielle Largent and husband Kevin, Landon Brown, Isaac Brown and Lacey Brown and a sister, Francis Waters. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Joseph Brown will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. on Monday prior to the service. Committal and interment will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2018 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Mountain Home V.A. Hospital for their care of Mr. Brown.
