John V. Van Dyke

Mr. John V. Van Dyke, age 85, of Elizabethton passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson City, he was the son of the late Lawrence V. Van Dyke and Martha Bradshaw Van Dyke Myers. He retired as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force after twenty years of service having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He later worked as a brick fireman with General Shale Corporation. Mr. Van Dyke was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Van Dyke and a nephew, Bobby Van Dyke. Surviving Mr. Van Dyke is a cousin, Hildred Lewis, Elizabethton. Graveside service for Mr. John V. Van Dyke will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Highland Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 A.M. on Saturday for the service.Read Obituary
