John William Presnell

John William Presnell, age 84, of Hampton, TN passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born in Carter County to the late Howard Gentry and Vina Vines Presnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Link Presnell, special nephew, Chris Birchfield and several aunts and uncles. John retired after 30 years as Plant Manager from Pane Sausage Company. He and his brother (Howard) ran the Amoco Station in Lynn Valley for 15 years. Later in life he worked as a local mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, fishing, going squirrel hunting and eating his favorite breakfast, biscuits and gravy. John loved his family, especially his granddaughter more than anything. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Hampton. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patsy Presnell, of the home; his dog (his favorite buddy), Droopy; three daughters, Linda Willis and husband Tim, Pamela Martin and Joy Presnell, all of Hampton; granddaughters, Heather Lyons and husband TJ, MaKayla Martin and fiancé, Justin Adkins, all of Hampton; brother, Howard Gentry Presnell, of Elizabethton; sisters, Ann Pierce and Betty Cates, of Hampton and Wanda Garland, of Elizabethton; special adopted daughter, Summer Carroll and special brother-in-law, Roger Garland. A memorial service to celebrate the life of John will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Roger Garland officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Lester Lunceford, Howard Presnell, Mike Warren, Tim Willis, Tim Lyons, TJ Lyons, David Grindstaff, Kenny Warren and Justin Adkins. The family will receive friends between the hours of 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday. The family would like to give a special thanks to his nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Jessica Barnett and Josh Campbell for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
