Joe G. Crowe, age 84, formerly of 110 East “E” Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 in Hillview Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John Henry and Bessie Mae Perry Crowe. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Crowe had been employed at North American Rayon Corporation for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Pacific during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Curlis and Linda Higgins, many half-brothers and half-sisters.             Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mable Virginia Steffey Crowe, Elizabethton, a son, Joseph Harvey Crowe and wife, Elizabeth, Holland, OH, one grandson, Tristan Leigh Crowe, Holland, OH, one brother, Herbert Hoover Crowe and wife, Dorothy, Elizabethton, one sister, Ella Beatrice Campbell, Elizabethton, two sisters-in-law, Frances Taylor, Elizabethton, Margie Fortunato, South Lyons, MI. Many nieces and nephews also survive.             The family will receive friends for Mr. Crowe on Sunday, July 25, 2010 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M until 2:00 P.M. Following the visitation, family and friends will go in procession to Happy Valley Memorial Park for a graveside service at 2:30 P.M. The service will be conducted by Rev. Charles Biggs.    Active pallbearers will be Tristan Crowe, Gary Woods, Nathan Woods, Lucas Mink, Eric Stout, Junior Campbell, Ron Colbaugh, Tom Colbaugh and Ted Colbaugh.             The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff of Hillview Health Care Center and to Caris Hospice for all of their care shown to Mr. Crowe and his family during his time of illness.
