Jean Pierce Brumit, age 90, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Fall Branch, TN and was the daughter of the late Knox K. and Thelma Lois Templeton Pierce. Mrs. Brumit retired as a Legal Secretary having worked at the Charles Crockett Law Firm for twenty-five years, later with the David Crocket Law Firm and for Lewis Combs and Bob Cupp. She was a member of First Christian Church Elizabethton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Brumit and a son, Jackie Brumit. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Jeanne Simerly and husband Gary and Kay Mathis and husband Barry, all of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Travis Simerly and wife Kelly, Elizabethton, Jeremy Simerly and wife Melanie, Greeneville, TN and Jackie Mathis and wife Sarah, Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren; Kris Bowling, Keirstin Simerly, Kellan Simerly, Ryan Mathis and Hannah Mathis and a great-great-grandson, Brycen Bowling. Special friends, Jackie P. Mullins, Fall Branch, TN and Linda Johnson, Johnson City, TN also survive.A service to honor the life of Jean Pierce Brumit will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Michael Klaus and Mr. Michael Koruschak, ministers officiating. Music will be under the direction of No Name But His and Mr. Gene Estep, organist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service or at the residence of her daughters at other times.Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Travis Simerly, Jackie Mathis, Jeremy Simerly, Dale Hensley, Jerry Deakins and David Mills. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 P.M. on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Jackie Brumit Memorial Fund or to the First Christian Church Choir, c/o First Christian Church Elizabethton, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
