Homer was such a gentile kind man. He was a very talented craftsman who did beautiful work. He did cane bottoms for my daughters chairs and they look great. He helped us take care of our antique furniture when it needed work. We are so blessed to have know him. Our condolences to all of his family and friends, Sue and Harry Farthing
What a good man Homer Sims was! He was an outstanding craftsman. We were blessed to have him fix some antique. furniture for us. Rest in peace dear friend.
Chris and family, I am so sorry to hear the news of your father, Homer's passing. I always remember his kind and gentle nature, his laugh when you really got him going, and kindness to all he met. I always remember enjoying him, your mother, Bertie, and you when stopping by my family home on Christmas Eve. Those were the best times and just full of laughter and joy. Homer was a skilled craftsman when working with furniture. I still have a chair in my bedroom that your father put a new bottom in for us. As long as I have that chair, a small testament of your father's life remains. A vivid memory I
have was of you as a small child of 2 or so. Like most 2 year-olds, you had your moments of being headstrong and active. We were in Erwin at my Grandfather's, and Homer must have walked you around Papaw's house 10 times, to the garden and back 10 times, and to the creek and back about 3 or 4 times. He never was cross with you, never raised his voice, never once seemed exasperated. He just held your hand, smiled at you, and let you do it mostly on your own. You could see how much he loved you in that moment and I know he is smiling at you now and just as proud as he was then. Just know that my thoughts are with you all and my love across the miles.
Chris, Jimmy and I are so sorry to learn of your father's death. We have such wonderful memories of the times we spent together when we visited Tennessee. We will never forget his gentle, kind, and loving spirit. Our prayers are with you and your family.
