Mrs. Hazel T. Davis, age 99, formerly of Hampton, TN passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosa Kemp Tolley. Mrs. Davis retired from the Coning Department at North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shields A. Davis; three sons, Terry “Poon” Davis Sr., Wayne Davis Sr. and Kenneth Grindstaff; two grandsons, Wayne Davis Jr. and Terry Davis Jr. and a brother, Clyde Tolley. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Betty Maggart, Johnson City; a son, Jim Davis and wife Lisa, Hampton; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Davis, Hampton and a niece, Wanda Hyder, Elizabethton.A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Hazel T. Davis will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 P.M. on Wednesday.

Ms. Hazel and I became instant friends from the moment we met. She shortly elevated me to "sister" status. She was a delightful lady who loved having visitors and giving little gifts. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. She will be remembered well and with love.
