Harold Ray White, age 66, of 617 Walnut Street, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Smyth County, VA, he was a son of the late Carl and Kate White.            Mr. White was a former employee of American Water Heater where he had worked for fourteen years. Prior to that, he was employed with the Bemberg Corporation and Virginia Highlands Manufacturing. He enjoyed all things outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, planting flowers, and playing church league soft ball. Ray was also an avid UT football fan. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabethton and was a U.S. Army veteran.            In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce White. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda Ruth White, of the home; a son, Stan White and his wife, Angel; three grandchildren, Logan, Lacy, and Levi White, all of Elizabethton; and a special niece, Teresa Faye Williams, Marion, VA. Several additional nieces and nephews also survive.            The funeral service for Mr. Harold Ray White will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Kenley Knight officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Kristy Knight. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service in the funeral home chapel or at the residence other times. The graveside service will follow on Tuesday in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends and will include Matthew Taylor, Daryl Visser, R.L. Gobble and Donnie Ritchie.            For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the First Church of the Nazarene’s building fund, 200 West I Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
