Gregory Jack Sims, 58, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Sims was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late Billy Jack and Della Sue Taylor Sims. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrin Richards and his grandparents, Frank and Pansy Taylor and Nat and Etta Sims. Survivors include two sisters, Ava Suzette Sims Himes, Shady Valley, TN, and Lisa Michelle Richards; two brothers, Steven Frank Sims, Elizabethton, and Craig Richards, California. Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with all of his friends at the Dawn of Hope. The funeral service for Mr. Sims will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday. The graveside service will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Dawn of Hope family and Donna Osborne for all their loving care given to Greg.
