Glenna Reeser Orfield

Glenna Reeser Orfield, age 80, of 721 Well Street, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Hall following an extended illness. A native of Greeneville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Herman Allen and Iva Dell Hensley Reeser. Mrs. Orfield was a former employee of Raytheon, and retired from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. She loved to garden and sew, and was an avid square dancer. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active with the church choir. Mrs. Orfield is survived by her husband, Herb Orfield, of the home; a son, Allen Thomason and wife, Susanne, Elizabethton; three daughters, Frances Salyer and Glenna Clark, both of Johnson City, and Sharon Thomason, Elizabethton; step-children, Sherry Hicks, Kingsport, Margaret Ryans and husband, Larry, Kingsport, Bob Orfield and wife, Vickie, Georgia, and Billie Grindstaff, Nashville; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Kathleen Honeycutt, Greeneville; and two sisters-in-law, Elwanda Reeser, Elizabethton, and Dorothy Reeser, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Glenna Reeser Orfield will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. The entombment service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday to travel together in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Calvary Baptist Church. Those who desire may make memorial contributions in Mrs. Orfield’s memory to the M&M Senior Group at Calvary Baptist Church, 225 N.
