George Theodore “GT” Ballance Sr of Erwin, TN, gained his angel's wings on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. GT’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ guided his every action, and he exemplified compassion, kindness and love to all those around him. He served the Lord with dedication, touching the lives of many through his personal ministry by spreading the message of love and forgiveness. His legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. Over the span of just ten years, GT and his beloved wife Laura shared a deep and abiding love that filled their home in Knoxville, TN with warmth and happiness. Alongside their cherished son, GT, they savored each moment together, creating a lifetime’s worth of beautiful memories in a short time. GT’s devotion to his family was evident in every gesture, along with each day being a testament to the power of love and commitment. GT’s professional journey took him through various roles, each leaving its mark on his life’s tapestry. Inspired by meeting Junkyard Dog as a child, he dabbled in wrestling throughout his life, adopting personas such as Buggy Boy and Steven Dillinger. GT found joy in the ring and inspired other wrestlers around him, while also constantly ministering any chance he had. Following brief stints in construction alongside his dad at the family business and nuclear power plants, he embraced the ebb and flow of different occupations, finding fulfillment in the experience they offered. His diverse career path reflected his curiosity and need to explore new opportunities. GT dreamed big dreams and had a strong desire to always be there for his family. In addition to his beloved wife, Laura Ballance, GT is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Ballance, mother-in-law, Margaret Buchanan, and brother-in-law, Joseph Stockfelt. He is survived by his father, Bobby Ballance, son GT Ballance Jr, his daughter-in-law Sarah Ballance, sisters Marilyn Stockfelt (Alvin), Bobbie Jean Jones (Ricky), father-in-law Bucky Buchanan, brother-in-law Jonathan Buchanan, nephews Joshua Stockfelt (Amy), Jacob Stockfelt (Alicia), Jathaniel Stockfelt, Ricky Jones Jr (Jill), Troy Jones, niece Jeannie Angelique Stockfelt and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews. In remembrance of GT’s life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make any charitable donations to the cause closest to your heart, as GT had a passion for supporting various charitable efforts. He often wrestled at events that supported Toys for Tots. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 17th, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Rivers Edge Fellowship Church 1200 U.S. 19-E, Elizabethton.
