Mr. George W. “G. W.” Lewis, age 90, of Johnson City, TN passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Washington County, TN he was the son of the late John Henry and Nora Presley Lewis. Mr. Lewis was employed for thirty-six years with E.T.W.N.C. as a truck driver. He was a member of Brick Christian Church, the V.F.W. Post #2108 in Johnson City, the American Legion Post #49, the Watauga Masonic Lodge 622 F&AM and the Scottish Rite of the Jericho Temple. Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Army-Air Corp veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Clark Lewis; five brothers, Clarence Lewis, Earl Lewis, Herbert Lewis, John Lewis and Bruce Lewis and four sisters, Edith Buck, Mildred Little, Ruth Netherly and Virginia Booth. Survivors include a son, George Kenneth Lewis; and two daughters, Diane Start and Joan Jarrett and husband Allen, all of Johnson City; a grandson, Jason Shawn Jarrett, Johnson City; and a sister, Alma Jean Brown, Limestone, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. George W. “G. W.” Lewis will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Ernie Depew, Minister officiating. The Watauga Masonic Lodge 622 F&AM will provide a Masonic service following the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the service or at the residence at any time. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tony Mottern, Steve Sellers, Allen Thompson, James Byrd, Tommy Little and J.C. Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wiley Milhorn, Frankie Williams, Carroll Meredith, Dr. David Moulton and men of Brick Christian Church.Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Shriners Hospital for Children/Jericho Temple, P.O.
