Floyd Lover Scalf
June 30, 1948 - April 3, 2022
Our cherished, beloved Floyd has made his final Journey, to HEAVEN to be with GOD. The feeling of deepened sorrow, consumes everyone who lived, loved, and knew of the great man Floyd is to us all.
Until we meet again in Heaven, this is how I see and will forever remember you, our dear Floyd. I mourn that life was far from best, not fair to you, kind man. I will think of you when the music plays,..... Somewhere Over the Rainbow 2011 - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole ….
Floyd’s open affection and calm demeanor, the huge family, his great love for his children, his Lynda, Adam and their blended family, always has his full unconditional focus. The ‘Scalf’ home never closes the door to anyone. The cherished love and devotion to family always priority. Lynda has always been the SOFT PLACE FOR FLOYD TO LAND. Their unconditional love for each other. Floyd faced unsurmountable battle scars. His battles became Lynda’s mission. Ever determined to save Floyd at his core, right the mental wrongs, they faced the battles, they never gave up. The strength of Lynda’s faith in God with Floyd’s determination refused to surrender.
Floyd loved music and shared so many colorful memories of his years playing in local bands. He would listen to hours of radio music as he spent his days calmly creating crafts in his workshop. When I hear the music that inspired Floyd, I will remember, then smile and enjoy his memories.
Floyd trusted and believed in God. Having served his country, he was honored to be a U.S Military Veteran. Although he faced long years accommodating the aftereffects from his youthful devotion in Military life. As with so very many Vietnam and other War Veterans, Floyd’s personal war experience, kept him humble. Even so, his youthful Military sacrifices, kept this hopeful young man hostage, until the day he has crossed into heaven to greet God.
The pain he endured is enormous to anything I will ever experience. Floyd and I spoke a few times of that Vietnam War. He always held only empathy for the War’s atrocities on the Vietnamese people. He refused to dwell on the unfair aftereffects of an unjust war. He believed Vietnam was a timid nation, only wanting to live free of Communism, in their own homeland. He proudly did his part to help them.
Floyd, this kind man is always open to new people and new experiences. Always with the youthful boyish focus. The voice of reason with full attention to his conversations. I know his Adam and the many young children will truly miss Floyd, in a great way. His many interactions with all the children who frequented Floyd and Lynda’s home.
With all his life challenges, he always gave children his full focus. His childlike charisma made Floyd adored in their eyes. Floyd kindly befriended and embraced my own Grandchildren, which have a Vietnamese Refugee Grandfather. My 2nd grade Granddaughter immediately bombarded Floyd with mail, becoming his pen pal. He always accepted and admired her many pieces of mail containing the childish juvenile artwork. My Grandson got his first love of wood whittling sitting at Floyd’s feet on our driveway. Floyd has left us with cherished memories of a kind, insightful, gentle man.
Floyd, your charisma has touched everyone you met. You left us with many memories. You have left a huge VOID, and you my dear friend, will be missed.
Until we meet again in Heaven, this is how I see and will forever remember you, our dear Floyd.
Always, Love,
Frankie & family
Floyd you were a great cousin you will be missed by all love and miss you until we meet again
