Evonne Marie Daniel

Evonne “Bunny” Daniel of Elizabethton, TN passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 5, 1952, in Wyandotte, MI, she was the first of five children of the late Kenneth Lovely and Rosemary Martina Lovely. In 1961, the family moved to Orlando, FL, where Evonne attended and graduated from Maynard Evans High School. She relocated to the Atlanta area in 1977 and began a career with the Standard Guaranty Insurance Company. Her job then led her back to Orlando, where she became the first woman to earn a position as an insurance field service representative in the state of Florida. She married in 1982 and moved back to Atlanta to continue her career and start a family. She retired from her job in 1988 to focus on raising her sons and the family relocated to the Tri-Cities that year. She also worked as a bookkeeper later in life. Evonne was divorced and did not remarry. Ms. Daniel was a devoted and caring mother to her sons and was always extremely supportive of them both. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, quilting for her family, and working jigsaw puzzles on snowy winter days. Evonne was a talented stained-glass artist and gifted many of her works to friends and family. She was also a very keen rummy and spades player and would play long into the night with her friends when they would come to visit her. Most importantly, Evonne was a doting grandmother and enjoyed making spaghetti and watching cartoons with her granddaughter, Reagan, who she absolutely adored. In her later years, she could be found enjoying the peace and quiet of her mountain, either watching TV Land in her recliner or sitting on the porch, watching her azaleas and lilies bloom, always with a cup of coffee in her hand and a cat in her lap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Randy and Sandy. Evonne is survived by her son Matthew Daniel of Huntsville, AL, son Alex Daniel, fiancée Tracey Powell and granddaughter Reagan Daniel, all of Elizabethton, TN, sister Vicki Martina and fiancée Paul Mustain of Grass Valley, CA, and brother Tony Lovely and fiancée Diane Crosby of Orlando, FL. Evonne disliked being the center of attention and hated inconveniencing anyone. Accordingly, her wishes were that there be no service, and that she be cremated, and her ashes spread amongst her azalea bushes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Dr, Elizabethton, TN 37643, or to the Friends of the Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter, www.feccas.org.
