Emma C. Johnson

Mrs. Emma C. Johnson, age 87, of Elizabethton died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Frank and Sally Pierce White. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and she was of the Church of Christ faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Johnson; a grandson, Thomas Hovatter; two sisters, Mabel Matthew and Christine McKinney and a brother, Edward White. Survivors include two daughters, Faye Shull and husband Phil, Hampton and Judi Hovatter and husband Roy James, Jonesborough; two grandchildren, Lisa Shull and Lori Mowdy and husband Sankler; a brother, Verlin “Brown” White, Elizabethton and two special nephews, Steve Wallace, Butler and Doug Hicks, North Carolina. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service for Mrs. Emma C. Johnson will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2012 in Lakeview Cemetery, Carter County, TN with Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 A.M. on Friday.
