Elizabeth Sims Gibson

Elizabeth Sims Gibson, 75, 1003 Quality Circle, Apartment 69, Johnson City died Saturday, September 26, 2009 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Goldie Grace Roberts Sims. Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and she enjoyed camping. She attended Trinity Assembly of God.            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Monica Reed and Melina Morton Hutchins and by an infant brother. Survivors include her husband Odis F. Gibson, of the home; four children, Larry Greg Bowling, Johnson City, Elaine Reynolds Helton, Greeneville, Sandy Sears, Johnson City, and Randy Sears and his wife Brenda, Elizabethton; twelve grandchildren including three that were very special to her, Nathan Helton, Jonathan Helton and Takoda Bowling; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Hildebrand and Joann Ritches and her husband Fred, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.            Funeral service for Elizabeth Sims Gibson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2009 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Jefferies officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the McKinney Cemetery, Gap Creek Community. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.Read Obituary
