Mrs. Edith Nave, age 94 of Hampton passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Nave was born in Fish Springs, TN and resided in Hampton since 1937. She was a daughter of the late Landon and Arminta Rainbolt Markland of Hampton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Nave, two sisters, Pauline McMaster of Hampton and Blanche Cash of Elizabethton, two brothers, L.J. Markland of Elizabethton and Edward Markland of Crossville TN, and a grandson, Jeff Shatley of Elizabethton. Mrs. Nave had been a resident at Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center for the last two years. She was a graduate of Watauga Academy in Butler. Robert Nave and Edith Nave owned and operated several businesses before retirement, the most notable was Nave Swimming Pool in the 1950’s in Hampton and they also owned R&M Radio-TV in Elizabethton. Mrs. Nave was an active member of Rittertown Baptist Church in Hampton for 65 plus years. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, L.B. and June Shatley of Hampton, one sister, Florence Presson, Elizabethton, a grandson, Brian Shatley, Hampton, three great-grandchildren, Brandon Shatley and wife Kristina, Knoxville, Melea Shatley Stevenson and husband, Bobby, Savannah, Ga., Casey Shatley, Hampton, one great- great-grandson, Jonah Shatley, Knoxville, a granddaughter-in-law, Cindy Shatley, Elizabethton, a sister-in-law, Imogene Markland, Elizabethton and two loyal friends, D.L. and Betty Stevens, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mrs. Edith Nave will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the service. The interment and prayer service will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Carden, Frank Kendall, Bobby Stevenson, Tom Little, Jerry Kendall, David Kendall, Brandon Shatley and Casey Shatley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Rittertown Baptist Church, c/o D.L. Stevens, 5196 Highway 19E, Hampton, TN 37658, for the church cemetery fund or the Lottie Moon Offering fund. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.
