Earl O. Rasnick, age 83, of Watauga, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Viola O’Quinn Rasnick. Mr. Rasnick was retired from North American Rayon Corporation following 46 years of service. He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. Earl found his greatest enjoyment spending time with his family, including his grandchildren that he greatly adored. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Theddy M. Rasnick, and twelve brothers and sisters. He is survived by seven daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Kenneth Oliver, Elizabethton, Judy and Bill Clawson, Elizabethton, Gail and Lee Hoilman, Spruce Pine, NC, Cathy and Harold Massengill, Watauga, Debbie and Rev. Albert Jarnagin, Jr., Johnson City, Gena and Bobby Minton, Watauga, and Martha Humphrey, Greenville, SC; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kathy Rasnick, Watauga, Jeff and Arzella Rasnick, Watauga, Tim and Debbie Rasnick, Elizabethton, and Doug Rasnick and his special friend, Shelby Cole, Elizabethton; twenty two grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons; and a sister, Alice Largent, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Earl O. Rasnick will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Kenneth Jordan officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Minton family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel prior to the service or at the residence other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the Rasnick Family Cemetery with Doug Rasnick and David Ward officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday to travel together in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Acyle Shepard, Mike Barnett, and Conway Hyder.
