View this Video Tribute (Must have Broadband Connection to view Video Tribute)E. Jeanne Brumitt Leonard, age 80 of Hampton, went to be with her Lord unexpectedly Thursday, August 4, 2011. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Hazen Chester and Myrtle Odra Edwards Brumitt. She was of the Baptist faith and was a retired employee of Raytheon after 39 years of service. Mrs. Leonard was a member of Country Gold Band, loved music and could play the piano and guitar and loved to sing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Norman Leonard, a grandson; Matthew Hyder, three sisters; Grace Hathaway, Lola Cooner and Paula Young, two brothers-in-law; Sam Young and Buddy Cooner. Survivors include two daughters; Teresa Hyder and husband, Larry, Unicoi, Angela Williamson and husband, Jeff, Jonesborough, one son; James Leonard II and wife, Tammy, Unicoi, six grandchildren; Jonathan Woods, Melanie Smith, Misty Bennett, Heather Woods, Christina Woods, and James Woods, eleven great grandchildren, two sisters; Sue Slimp and husband, Jack, Butler, Barbara Crockett and husband, Jim, Raleigh, NC, one brother; Terry Brumitt and wife, Becky, Hampton. Special friends; Jean Campbell, Hampton and Ross Potter, Valley Forge. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The memorial service for Mrs. Leonard will be conducted at 4 PM, Sunday, August 7th, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, from 2 PM until 4 PM prior to the service. Private inurnment will be conducted at a later date in the Hall Cemetery in Hampton. James, Teresa and Ann.....I am so sorry about your momma, we just got back from working in Alabama and heard what happened. We would of come to the service if we were here. Jimmy, It has been many years since I have seen you. You were always a dear friend to me and I am so sorry about your mother. I always held special in my heart the times I went with you and her to the Bluegrass shows and listened to ya'll play. She had a voice like an angel and she will be sorely missed. So sorry for the tragic loss of your mother and grandmother.I know she'll be truely missed I've heard so many kind words about Jeanne from James and Cara.(I absolutely loved the plate of food she sent me at Chistmas.)
