Mrs. Dorothy Clark Pearson, age 89, of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County she was the daughter of the late Robert N. and Marguerite Young Clark. Mrs. Pearson retired from the Carter County Courthouse, Circuit Court Clerk’s Office where she worked in the clerical department. She was a charter member of Southside Christian Church. She loved her Church activities, crafts, playing games and working puzzles. Mrs. Pearson also loved cooking for family, friends and the community and helped in the Food for the Multitude Program. She dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a very virtuous woman who embodied Proverbs 31. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Gouge and a brother, Paul Clark. Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, James Pearson, of the home; a son, Dr. James M. Pearson and wife Debby, Johnson City; a daughter, Jeanie Cakebread and husband Bruce, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Dr. Zack Pearson, Johnson City; Beth Stone and husband Josh, Rota, Spain; Renee Wilcox and husband Craig, California and Jared Cakebread, Elizabethton; five great-grandchildren, Kaedon, Ivy and Laurel Pearson and Elynn and Emmalee Wilcox; a sister, Wilma Owens, Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Stanton and Margie Pearson, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to honor the life of Mrs. Dorothy Clark Pearson will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Southside Christian Church, 1610 Southside Road, Elizabethton, TN with Mr. Mike Koruschak, minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of No Name But His. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the service or at the residence at any time. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 9:15 A.M. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hillview Health Center, Dr. Crisostomo, Dr. Paul Kramer at Hope Women’s Cancer Center, Kingsport, Dr. Janet Drake, Dr. Rachel Monderer, Dr. Vivian Clark, Caris Hospice and the doctors and staff of Franklin Woods Community Hospital for their care to Mrs. Pearson.
