Donald Birg Hilliard, age 61, of Bluff City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Donald was born in Bristol, Tennessee to the late James Henry Hilliard and Jessi Nellie Vanover Hilliard. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Hilliard and Junior Hilliard; and three sisters, Ruby Wilson, Mary Watkins and Laura Nunn.Donald worked as a painter and loved cars, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Donald never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone that needed a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of thirty eight years, Linda Thurman Hilliard, of the home; four daughters, Jessica Shelton and husband Justin of Mountain Home, Idaho, Christina Lacey and husband Larry of Piney Flats, TN, Donna Hilliard and Scott Morris of Charlotte, NC and Shanoa Smith and husband Robby of Bluff City, TN; eight grandchildren; seven “grand pets”; a brother, Norman Hilliard of Bluff City; two sisters, Barbara Leonard and Betty Brewer both of Bristol, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 861 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 in memory of Donald.Online condolences may be shared with the family on our website, www.hathawaypercy.com. I’m so sorry for your loss Chrissy and your entire family. I remember coming to your house when we were young and your dad always had a smile on his face and was telling jokes! I always loved that about him!

I am so sorry for the loss you are all suffering. I never knew his name, but he occasionally shopped at a store I used to work at and he always left me with a big smile on my face. He spoke so fondly of his wife and family. May your memories and Our Lord bring you all the much-needed comfort and peace during this sad time.
