Mr. Charlie D. Mitchem, age 61, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Welch, WV he was a son of the late John and Rosie Hartley Mitchem. Mr. Mitchem was a huge Randy Travis fan and was a big cut-up. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Barnett and Shirley Rose and one brother, Lee Mitchem. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Mitchem, of the home; two daughters, Rachel Mays and husband Luke, Elizabethton and Carrie Mitchem and boyfriend, Chuck Davis, Bakersfield, NC; two sons, Scotty Mitchem and Dewayne Mitchem, both of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Jacob Mays, Catherine Mays, Miranda Davis and Austin Davis; brothers, Eddie Mitchem and Larry Mitchem, both of Keystone, WV; sisters, Mary Ellen Bishop, Campbell, WV, Becky Smith, Welch, WV and Janice Greene, of WV; four step-brothers and one step-sister. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service to honor the life of Mr. Charlie D. Mitchem will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the graveside service.
