Mr. Charles “Kirby” Potter, Sr., age 66, of Roan Mountain, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Carter County and was the son of the late, Toney and Annie Mae Ashley Potter.  Mr. Potter was a member of the Laurel Fork Church of Christ. He was a retired handyman and enjoyed spending his time fishing and working with his flowers. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Perry Potter, of the home; a brother, Daniel Potter and wife, Brenda; two sisters, Mamie Harrison; Edna Canter; three sons, Scotty Potter and wife, Tammy; Charles Potter, Jr. and wife, Sarina; Jerry Potter; all of Roan Mountain; six grandchildren, Erica Potter; Jerry Potter; Cody Potter; Brittany Potter; Brandon Potter; Marissa Potter; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Monday, May 23, 2011 at noon at the Isaac’s Cemetery in the Buck Mountain community of Roan Mountain with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Active pallbearers will be Casey Bowles, Randy Campbell, David Thompson, David Harrison, Buster Brewer and Tommy Oaks. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones and Rich Campbell. Those who wish to attend should meet at the cemetery at 11:50 AM. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
