Charles Herbert Whittington, 82, went to be with his Lord on November 2nd, 2023. He was born to the late William “Bill” Whittington and Alouise Eugena Carpenter Whittington. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, the love of his life, Frances Lyons Whittington; a son, David Whittington; two sisters, Elizabeth Lou Whittington Calloway and Martha Whittington Taylor; a brother, Steve Whittington and an infant brother; as well as his mother and father in law, Sweetie L. Lyons and George Lyons Jr. Charles loved spending time with his wife and children. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Charles could often be found building something. He was great with his hands and liked to stay busy on a project whenever he could. He attended Watauga Point United Methodist and had also attended Sinking Creek Baptist Church in the past. Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Rob Whittington and Roxanna Whittington; grandchildren, Robin Leann Daniels (Billy) and Charles Chase Whittington (Courtney); great-grandson, Jackson Daniels; brother, Stanley Whittington (Mosella); sister in law, Jean Whittington and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members will miss him. When his wife, Frances Whittington passed in July of 2020 they were unable to have a service for her. A memorial service to celebrate the life of both Frances and Charles Whittington will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Gary Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM prior to the service on Friday. The inurnment for both Frances and Charles Whittington will follow the service in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Sinking Creek Baptist Church building restoration fund, 2313 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601 The family would like to give a special thank you to Nurse Heather at Franklin Woods Hospital for all her loving care during Charles’s illness.
