Cecil B. Edwards, age 86, of Johnson City, TN passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 in Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton. A native of Unicoi County, TN, he was the son of the late Roscoe Raymond and Dulla Zenia Crain Edwards. He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service working with the Senior Crew. He was also a former employee of Empire Furniture and had worked many years in the sawmill business. He grew up in the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church in the Flag Pond Community of Unicoi. Mr. Edwards enjoyed farming and gardening.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Ruth Stout Edwards; a daughter, Donna Campbell; a sister, Zetta Carter and three brothers, David Edwards, Vestil Edwards and Jerry Edwards. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Kathy Renfro and husband Steve, Johnson City; six granddaughters, Amy Kuntz and husband Mike, Rebecca Patsel and husband Tim, Katherine Renfro and companion Jason, Stephanie Renfro, Tracey Myers and husband Daniel and Hope Renfro; one grandson, Stephen Renfro II; four great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister Zelda Lingerfelt and husband Lawrence; a son-in-law, Mitch Campbell and two sisters-in-law, Bertha Edwards and Evelyn Edwards. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A service to honor the life of Cecil B. Edwards will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Higgins Creek Cemetery in the Flag Pond Community of Unicoi. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Kuntz, Tim Patsel, Norman Edwards, and Jason Davis.The family would like to express a special thank you to the staffs of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Caris Hospice for their care to Mr. Edwards.
